LAWYER for a Project with Amnesty International Philippines

The lawyer will –

  • Represent families under the project in requesting and processing government-issued reports for case build up;
  • Provide initial legal counselling to families under the project;
  • Assist in facilitating paralegal trainings offered to families;
  • Liaise with partner organizations and relevant government agencies;
  • Monitor Commission on Human Rights (CHR) investigation on cases related to the project;
  • Attend case conferences and seminars related to the project;
  • Assist in the formation of AIPh’s legal network and act as liaison officer on behalf of the project;
  • Conduct legal research, presentations, case interviews;
  • Draft legal opinions and communications;
  • Conduct legal documentation and case build up

Candidates must –

  • Be a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines
  • Be willing to learn and go on field and community visits
  • Have demonstrated skills in writing and communication
  • Be capable of handling responsibilities with minimum supervision
  • Be capable of learning and adapting to new tasks and situations and resourceful
  • Be a team player and able to relate well with people
  • Share the organization’s VMG in advancing and promoting the rights of the poor and marginalized sectors, identities and local communities

Preferably, candidates must also –  

  • Have a background in Legal Resource NGO work
  • Have an experience in coordinating with government agencies
  • Be available to start immediately
