SHATTERED PEACE IN MINDANAO: THE HUMAN COST OF CONFLICT IN THE PHILIPPINES

Fighting escalated in the Mindanao region of southern Philippines on 4 August 2008, when the Philippines Supreme Court delayed formally signing the “Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain”. This report shows the human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law taking place during the conflict. More than 100 civilians have been killed, hundreds have been severely injured and subjected to inhumane treatment, unlawful killings and destruction of property.
