Thematic Campaign

Thematic Projects are mini-campaigns, designed to contribute to the achievement of our Human Rights Goals. They may be at the international, regional, national or local level.

Crises Response and Tactical Campaigning

A Crisis Response is an integrated response to any grave deterioration in the human rights situation in a country or region. It involves an intensive program of work within a short period (e.g. 3-6 months).

Tactical Campaigning describes any short-term (i.e. 3-12 months) campaigning project designed to respond to external threats or to capitalize on external opportunities. While the bulk of our campaigning exists within strategically planned projects, this allows us room to more swiftly react to the outside world.

The At Risk of Crisis Register is updated every four months by the International Secretariat and updates the movement on the likelihood of certain countries erupting into a human rights crisis. This can be found on the Campaigning and Action Planning Database.

On 26 June AI launched the Tactical Campaign Cruel. Inhuman. Degrades us all. Stop Torture and Ill-Treatment in the "war on terror". The campaign will run until December. All relevant documents related to the campaign can be found on the Campaigning and Action Planning Database under Torture and Ill-Treatment in the "war on terror".
